Friends

The Friends of Lionwood Schools Federation Association is a crucial part of our school.  It reflects our commitment to enriching the lives of the children and families in and around the Lionwood community.

Our Aims

Making planets out of paper macheThe primary objective of the Friends of Lionwood Schools Federation Association is to provide enjoyable and inclusive social and cultural events for children, parents/carers and families of the community of the school in order to enrich the lives of all Lionwood children.

In addition we aim to raise money through various fundraising events at the school and in the local community to purchase items chosen by staff and the School Councils (on behalf of the children) for the benefit and enrichment of the children at the schools.

Membership

Any parent/guardian or carer of a child at the school may attend Friends of Lionwood Schools Federation meetings. Membership may also include outreach workers or committee members of an established community group at the discretion of the Headteacher and Friends’ Committee.

Activities

  • Organise inclusive community events at the schools including “coffee and chat” sessions, Christmas and Summer Fairs and Charity events.  These must be approved by the Headteacher.
  • Raise funds for the schools to purchase resources approved by the Headteacher and Friends of Lionwood Schools Federation.
  • Provide gifts to mark occasions such as Christmas gifts for classes, and leaving presents for the children at the end of Year 2 and Year 6.
  • Support the children and the staff on school trips.
  • Support children in school e.g. 1-1 reading, art activities and class parties.
  • Contribute to the school website, Reception whiteboard and school newsletter in order to keep parents and staff informed.
  • Send out newsletters and leaflets to the surrounding community to advertise events as necessary.
