Lionwood Infant School and Nursery is proud to offer a wide range of after school clubs that are available to all children from Reception to Year 2. As the clubs are run by the teachers and teaching assistants, they cover a wide range of interests we try to make sure that each year group will have a choice of clubs to join each term. At the end of each term, we ask the parents and children for ideas for new clubs as we are always looking to meet the interests of the children of the school.
During this academic year, the teachers have run the following clubs:
Art and Crafts, Dance, Games, Gardening, Sewing, Maths, ICT and Drama.
In addition to the school run clubs, a football club and a multi-skills club are run by coaches from outside the school and many groups use the school’s facilities in the evenings and at weekends. For further details of these groups, please ask at the school office.
These are the after school clubs that will be running this term – Spring 2016.
Y1 – Gardening and ICT Club in Apple Class and the Sensory Garden – Miss Aldis, Mrs Cleveland and Mrs Storey
Y2 – Drama in the Main Hall – Miss Finnie and Miss Herron (This Club finishes at 4pm)
Y1 and Y2 – Recorder Club in Holly Class – Miss Snudden and Miss Read
Y1 and Y2 – Zumba/Dance Fitness in the Green Room – Mrs Jervis and Mrs Sides
Y2 – Choir in the Main Hall – Mrs Mills
We regularly welcome visitors to our school, particularly for end of topic celebrations.
Last year, the children participated in workshops on Bollywood dancing and also learned how to do a range of circus skills too!
At Lionwood Infant and Nursery school, we appreciate the value of educational visits. They allow children to grow and develop in a way that is not always possible in the classroom and can give children a wealth experiences that are not always readily accessible. We run fundraising events throughout the year to cover the costs of these visits.
Year 2: Jimmy’s Farm
In addition, this year so far we have been to the Odeon and Vue Cinemas, the Norfolk Children’s Book Centre, Heartsease Swimming Pool and Lion Wood. Visits to Norwich Castle, Oulton Broad and Bewilderwood are planned in for 2016!
